Caffeine is used in the production of our tea, cocoa and many other popular soft drinks.
Coffee contains from 0.8% to 1.7% caffeine. Caffeine is an alkaloid that acts as a stimulant to the central nervous system. Caffeine is additive when taken in excess and once at that level, the compulsion to take caffeine becomes difficult to control. It is so additive that sudden withdrawer can cause depression, nausea, a running nose and aching joints. But caffeine also has the good sides to it.

· Caffeine sharpens the physical performance and increases the capacity for work of an individual.
· Caffeine can make one sharper both physically and mentally.
· Caffeine can cure a nagging headache. That is why it is used as a vital ingredient in headache remedies.
· It combats symptoms of asthma.
· It is an effective diuretic that flushes fluid form the system.
Why caffeine is bad to the body:
· Excessive use of caffeine can cause anxiety, panic attacks, and irritability, stomach upsets, etc.
· Caffeine can interfere with absorption of iron and other vitamins.
· The in-take of caffeine can disrupt sleep long after consumption.
· Caffeine can interfere with getting a good night’s sleep.
· Caffeine can cause rapid or irregular heartbeats.

BENEFITS OF DRINKING COFFEE
Sometimes you hear people say, “I don’t like coffee, it is a waste of time and money, that stuff is not good for the body, it contains caffeine”, and so on. These people forget the so many benefits of taking coffee. There are some great benefits to drinking coffee.

There is a number of proven coffee benefits acquired from taking in a daily cup or two. However, research does show that three to four cups a day aren’t going to do any harm.

Note: Moderate intakes of coffee or caffeine do not appear to have harmful effects.
